Berkeley was the original home of the 100 year old Elitch Gardens amusement park, prior to its relocation to Lodo in the early 1990's.  With the metro area's prolific expansion a decade ago, Berkeley was not devastated when its long time anchor pulled up stakes, but only grew in popularity as the this particular area of the city was revitalized by community organizers, and thrived.  A majority of Berkeley area homes are Denver Squares, which are typically plain brick two-stories that became popular in the early 20th century. Bonnie Brae

This quaint neighborhood of Bonnie Brae was originally designed to resemble a scottish village complete with curving streets, a circular central park, a winding boulevard, and a collection of small shops where residents could congregate and mingle.
