12 things you can do to keep your home in top shape during November
1) Rake leaves before the first snow. Matted leaves can choke a lawn.
2) Clean leaves from gutters & downspouts before debris gets wet. Watch this video about how to avoid costly ice-dams this winter.
3) Store garden hoses and remove from outside faucets.
4) Top-off your attic insulation.
5) Clean chimney. Repair cracks & loose mortar. Examine flue.
6) Replace flashlight, smoke, & carbon monoxide batteries.
7) Conserve energy - buy a Hot Water Heater blanket.
8) Vacuum refrigerator coils on backside and clean inside.
9) Replace or clean furnace filter, or service furnace.
10) Inspect windows for proper seal.
11) Touch or feel all-round your windows and exterior doors (on a cold day) to detect air infiltration. Caulk, weather-strip, or insulate.
12) Hang exterior holiday lights before the snow flies!
