11 things you can do to keep your home in
top-shape during May

1) Keep Mosquitos out of your yard this summer.  Watch video!

2) Examine decks, porches, stairs and railings for deterioration.

3) Clean air conditioning filters.  Clear around condensor unit.

4) Turn on evaporative cooling system, inspect, check for leaks.

5) Its a good time to begin spraying for weed & mite control.

6) Open crawlspace vents to ventilate crawlspace.

7) Test automatic garage door reversing mechanism & adjust.

8) Grease/Lube worm gears in garage door opener to prolong life.

9) Apply spring fertilizer 30 days between applications.

10) Adjust mower blade settings to high. Longer growth is best.

11) Set automatic sprinklers to begin watering before evaporation begins.

Tip - use the "cycle and soak" watering method for your automatic sprinkler system.  Adjust your watering schedule so you only water for half the normal time, allowing the water to soak-in for about an hour.  Then, water for the remaining time on a second cycle.  This helps reduce run-off especially on slopes.  Note: Depending on the slope and soil type, you may need to run some zones multiple times.
