The Cost Of Living In Denver ranks just above the national averages, but well below many other major metropolitan areas, including both coasts. According to the ACCRA Cost of Living Index 2009 Third Quarter data, Denver ranks slightly above the national average of 100, with a composite index of 104.3.
Denver boasts the thinnest workforce in the country, and the nation's lowest obesity rate. Colorado residents are exceptionally healthy. The health-consciousness for which Coloradans are renowned is reflected in some of the lowest per-employee health care costs in the country. According to Hewitt Associates, LLC, the total is more than $850 per employee lower than the national average and ranked in the top 5 among all major metropolitan areas.
