& Monthly Housing Report

 

Total sales dropped in December to a seasonal low of about 3800 homes and condos. The Denver real estate market was very active despite that drop in sales from the month prior. And there would certainly have been many more homes sold, if it were not for the continuing inventory shortage in our market. We've seen inventory this low before, but it doesn't 'bottom' until the Spring market where demand usually peaks.

Average home prices are creeping back up after a three-month stall. Both single-family home and condo prices rose slightly, which put prices about 1.4% higher than during November (condos and homes combined).

Heading into the New Year the biggest news so far in 2015 appears to be the drop in mortgage interest rates. This recent decline in interest rates marks some of the lowest rates we've seen in almost 2 years now.  Read more in Today's Rates, below.
