Lafayette was originally founded as an agricultural and coal mining community well over a hundred years ago. Today, Lafayette is a relatively small community of 26,000 nestled in the rolling hills about 10 miles east of Boulder, and just north of Broomfield.
Lafayette takes advantage of its close-in location to Boulder to enjoy all the amenities Boulder offers, but still far enough away to keep its home-town identity, and a much more affordable cost of living with a quality of life that its residents prefer.
Lafayette retains some of its historic character via its Old Town District. The community organizes several home town events like Lafayette Days, a wine festival, and it celebrates an annual Peach Festival in late summer just as Colorado grown peaches come to harvest.
Major shopping districts are the regional Flatirons Malls and Boulder’s Crossroads Mall. Lafayette has great public schools, and is part of the Boulder Valley School District. Because Lafayette’s cost of living is much less than that of Boulder, its home prices and selection are greatly improved.
