Franktown is a small ranching community just south of the Town of Parker, and east of Castle Rock. Franktown is situated at the northern tip of the Black Forest that extends from Colorado Springs northward, and is a beautiful place to live with its abundance of Ponderosa Pine.
Franktown was the first county seat when Douglas County, well over a hundred years ago. Today, Franktown has managed to maintain its rural identity despite all of the building activity around it and within.
Franktown’s most historic structure, “The Grange”, was originally built in 1905 and still stands to this day. Franktown offers some stunning scenic treasures the likes of Castlewood Canyon State Park. The park has sheer canyon walls, scenic and rolling trails, some rock climbing opportunities, and you can still see evidence of the ‘century-old’ Castlewood Canyon Dam.
