Bonds have been trading at their highest levels in many months. This has kept mortgage interest rates low, in spite of a Fed rate increase in December.

The recent drop in mortgage rates has largely been fueled by slowing economic growth throughout various parts of the country. Other key contributor to the slide in mortgage rates is that stock market confidence has declined in the new year, and inflationary pressures have been way down (due to a glut in the energy sector).

Looking ahead, the outlook for interest rates looks flat, and another Fed rate increase appears unlikely during 2016. That shouldn't disappoint 2016 home shoppers much at all. Check out the most current mortgage interest rates, below.
